Dermatology
Meet the Team
Dermatology research in the North East and North Cumbria supports and provides participants with opportunities to take part in research into various skin conditions, including skin cancers and rare skin diseases. Research is promoted in the following areas of dermatology; common chronic skin diseases such as urticaria, acne, drug reactions, eczema, and psoriasis where genetic research and biological therapies are a new focus for patient centred care.

Dr Shyamal Wahie's research experience
I have been doing research for about 15 years and currently I am the speciality group lead for dermatology based at the University Hospital of North Durham. Tips for getting involved in dermatology research include; having an awareness of eczema and psoriasis and how to interpret the conditions, as well as liaising closely with the research nurses and delivery staff in the specialty area
